Default There are always 2 military guys standing at

Charlie Checkpoint in Berlin. Are they real military guys? One guy holds the British national flag and another guy holds the US one. Question 1) Are they really from UK and US? I saw many toruists wanna take photos with them?Question 2) At the Charlie checkpoint, I saw some tourists get their passport stamped by a military guy. Why?Welcome Berliners or people who have been there to answer my question. Danke!

They are there for tourist and nostalgia reasons. There is no longer any need for the guards and they have no authority.

It's all fake and a scam on tourists. Sometimes these 'Soldiers' stand on the wrong side, such as an 'American soldier' standing in the former russian zone. The stamping of passports is reminiscent of the East German Border Guards stamping passports of people trying to get into the East part of Berlin. But it's all fake.
