well first thing I would recommend is going to tsa.gov and find out about every country you want to travel through what the security risks are and if there are any countries that they recommend that you do not travel through at this time. You also need to check to see if you are required to get a visa to enter that country. Most countries around the world allow americans to travel to their country with just a passport. Finding out about the local culture also helps too. One thing I have learned about traveling abroad is that you do not want to go into another country without knowing anything about the host country. leave any unnecessary documents, i.e. social security card, multiple credit cards, anything that has personal information on it at home. This is to lessen the chance of your information getting stolen. Always exchange money for the local currency. Try and stay in well populated areas that are tourist friendly. they maybe Little pricey but they are alot nicer than the more rural parts of the country. When flying try to take a backpack with you with at least 2 days change of clothes. I went to Bulgaria to visit my buddies I met in iraq and somehow my bag got lost in Greece for 3 weeks. Again when packing try to limit what you take on your bags. Depending on the airline company you will be charged anywhere from $15 to $50 if your bags are over 40lbs. But most importantly enjoy your travels. It will be a trip of a lifetime.
